About
In my first couple days at work, I could tell when I was about to be introduced before I was even aware that someone new was approaching me. The individual atoms in my boss’ face gathered in a chorus, excited and determined, and her arms began acting as if they belonged to a zombie, reaching toward, steering me in the direction of an approaching co-worker.
And Then, very hurriedly so that she could get to the point of the matter: “This is Alice, my assistant,” Followed by an annunciated and proud statement, like a mother who wants to tell everyone that her baby took his first steps: “She moved here from Ken-TUCK-y!”
Yes, I moved from Kentucky. I took a train to New York. I stayed in a Hostel. And now I live in Hoboken.
